Imperfect Victim

An anonymous call accused the Chairman of Dai Thanh Conglomerate, Thanh Cong, of raping his assistant, Trieu Tam, prompting police investigation. Trieu Tam was not sober enough to clearly recall the events of the night in question.

The victim did not press charges, and with no complainant in the criminal case, Yen Minh, the police officer in charge of the investigation, was forced to release the suspect under orders from superiors. Lawyer Lam Kham, legal advisor to Dai Thanh Conglomerate, was authorized to handle the matter.

Trieu Tam confesses the incident to her parents. Tan Lo, Thanh Cong’s wife in their business-arranged marriage, returns and demands a divorce. Angered by his daughter’s mistreatment, Trieu Tam’s father causes a scene at her workplace.

Lin Kan, the legal representative of Cheng Gong, submits new evidence to the police revealing inconsistencies in Zhao Xun’s testimony. The board of directors at Daicheng Group appoints a new chairman.

The police take a statement from Yin Sheng, the anonymous accuser. Lin Kan successfully helps Chairman Cheng secure bail. After being released, Cheng Gong is eager to find ways to reclaim his position at the corporation.

The police interrogate Zhou Xun about the expensive items she received from Cheng Gong. The police decide to drop the criminal case, and Cheng Gong is officially released. Lin Kan suggests that Cheng Gong could sign a confidentiality agreement regarding the matter with Zhou Xun. Lin Kan is named one of the Top 10 Outstanding Lawyers.

Cheng Gong wants Lin Kan to help arrange a meeting with Zhou Xun. Zhou Xun and Cheng Gong have a direct discussion with Lin Kan as a witness. Lin Kan discusses the confidentiality agreement with Zhou Xun.

Cheng Gong files a defamation lawsuit against Zhou Xun. Lin Kan decides to represent Zhou Xun in court and makes a decision that draws opposition from everyone around her.

Zhou Xun wakes up after surgery. Mi Mang committed a crime in the act of self-defence, and Lin Kan becomes his defence lawyer in court. While searching for evidence, Lin Kan encounters Yin Sheng again.

Ren Zheng (Lin Kan’s mentor) agrees to sign the papers for her resignation. Zhou Xun agrees to have Lin Kan represent her in court. The mediation between Cheng Gong and

Mi Mang is convicted, but Lin Kan files an appeal. The appeal is successful. Yin Sheng agrees to testify. Zhou Xun files a civil lawsuit against Cheng Gong in a separate case..

Based on Yin Sheng’s testimony supporting Zhou Xun, Li Yi decides to quit her job and leave the city. Zhou Xun wins the case and gains public sympathy and support. Lin Kan and Zhou Xun begin a new chapter in their lives.
