A former fast-food manager, Amy Carlson founds her own religious movement and ascends to the position of Mother God, inspiring followers across the internet. As Amy searches for the next Father God to rule by her side, devotees arrive at the commune, live-streaming daily and selling products like colloidal silver to fund their healing work.

Amy's relatives detail her past as a mother of three and her history of alcohol and drug abuse. After Amy begins a relationship with Jason Costilo, who takes on the mantle of the final Father God, Amy becomes sick from ingesting doses of colloidal silver - which the group believes has healing properties. Amy's sister intervenes, but Love Has Won members take Amy to Hawaii.

Amy's daughter Madi describes her life growing up without a mother. After Amy claims to be the goddess Pele, the Love Has Won commune is kicked out of Hawaii. As Amy's health deteriorates, her followers continue to raise money for the group and flee to Colorado.
