To save her ailing mother, He Wei Fang agrees to marry Liu Chang, despite his family's ulterior motives to exploit her family's wealth. Liu Chang, a scholar in love with another, disdains Wei Fang. At the temple, forced into the marriage, Wei Fang meets Jiang Chang Yang.

The Liu family hosts the Emperor's envoy, Jiang Chang Yang, and Princess Li You Zhen, Liu Chang's former love. Wei Fang/Mu Dan's peonies impress, and Chang Yang, who knows her, helps protect them. Discovering her mother's murder, Mu Dan seeks revenge and demands a divorce from Liu Chang.

Liu Chang observes disconcerting changes in Princess Li. Mu Dan's plan to visit her dowry shops is thwarted by Father Liu, leading to an unfortunate event. Undeterred, Mu Dan takes charge of her life.

Emboldened, Mu Dan begins to hold the Liu family into account, which piques Chang Yang’s curiosity. Wanting her freedom, Mu Dan conspires with Princess Li to secure what they both seek. Despite their efforts, Liu Chang is hesitant to move forward with Princess Li.

Liu Chang realizes that his love for the Princess has long gone and that he’s now developing feelings for Mu Dan. The Liu family is making it difficult for Mu Dan to get a divorce since they want to keep her dowry, so she reached out to Chang Yang for support.

Realizing she no longer has a home, He Wei Fang deliberately leaves her hairpin at the edge of a cliff. Liu Shen's men find the hairpin and conclude she has fallen to her death. Afterward, He Wei Fang puts on plain clothes and sets out to begin a new chapter of her life.

Jiang Chang Yang confides in He Wei Fang, sharing his feelings about his father's betrayal and his aversion to marriage. They wager on who will break their vow and get married first.

Chuan Yu invites He Wei Fang to the Jiang Residence and claims Jiang Chang Yang wants to discuss his aunt with her. However, he locks Mu Dan inside a pitch-black room.

He Wei Fang is pursued by a masked assassin in the wilderness. He Wei Fang shouts for help, but she fails to escape from the assassin. The assassin raises the blade in his hand and prepares to stab He Wei Fang.

The flowers in the shop are infested with pests. Upon investigation, Mu Dan discovers that someone has planted insect eggs into the fertilizer.

Sheng Yi is persuaded by Wang Qing. She thinks that women should live their lives with a mate. He Wei Fang persuades Sheng Yi patiently. She tells her that being independent is more important than getting married.

Liu Chang asks King Ning to cancel his marriage with Li You Zhen. He thinks it's unfair to marry her if he cannot love her wholeheartedly. Because of that, he is willing to resign as the assistant minister of the Ministry of Revenue.

Li You Zhen learns that Liu Chang has been frequenting a tavern, and directly across the street is Blooming Abode, which turns out to be He Wei Fang's business. Li You Zhen confronts the Liu family and demands that Liu Shen report He Wei Fang's true identity to the authorities

He Wei Fang is sentenced to serve as a government slave in the military. The camp's commanding officer uses the slaves as live targets to train the recruits in archery.

Sheng Yi returns to the temple ruins where she started the business with Mu Dan and prays for the deity to let Mu Dan return safely. Mu Dan appears and questions Sheng Yi as to why she betrayed her.

Wang Qing kneels and begs Mu Dan for help. Mu Dan agrees to help him with the condition that he returns Blooming Abode to her and apologizes to Sheng Yi. 

Jiang Chang Yang reminds He Wei Fang that behind the moldy grain issue in the West Market lies an intricate and complex network. He Wei Fang understands what Jiang Chang Yang is implying. She understands that he's making preparations to topple the corrupt officials. They decide to join hands.

Blooming Abode's branch is officially opened in the Eastern market. He Wei Fang and Da Fu dress up to welcome their customers.

He Wei Fang and Geng Chun bump into four young men acting suspiciously at Huanyun Pavilion. Wei Fang senses that the scrolls they carry might be concealing weapons. Meanwhile, Jiang Chang Yang is in a secret meeting with the Emperor inside the pavilion.

King Ning orders Jiang Chang Yang to hand over He Wei Fang. As the situation is dire, Jiang Chang Yang tells King Ning that he is preparing to take He Wei Fang as his concubine.

Liu Chang will marry the county princess soon. Leader Lv and his flower association have taken up the important task of preparing fresh flowers for the occasion. Leader Lv seeks help from He Wei Fang. 

Jiang Chang Yang and Mu Dan complete their wedding according to the customs under Dean Xu's supervision to become a married couple

Jiang Chang Yang is forced by King Ning to marry Lian Zhou as his concubine. After the wedding banquet, he hides in He Wei Fang's room. They wait for Lian Zhou to come over so they can put on a planned show to fool her.

He Wei Fang finds Liu Lang, Sheng Yi's younger brother, at the corner of the street. Liu Lang is coughing and has shortness of breath. He Wei Fang decides to take him back to Fang Garden to seek treatment.
